The University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business recently celebrated its 7th annual Women’s Symposium and Diversity Conference, held during the second week of November. This vibrant event served as a gateway for prospective students to immerse themselves in the unique culture and inclusive atmosphere that Darden embodies. From the moment attendees arrived, they were greeted with a warm and welcoming environment designed to foster connections. The conference provided numerous opportunities for prospective students to mingle with current students, alumni, faculty, and staff, allowing them to gain firsthand insights into life at Darden. These interactions were not just casual exchanges; they were meaningful conversations that helped prospective students envision their future at the school.

Throughout the event, participants enjoyed a rich array of activities, including panels, career blocks, and interactive discussions from Admissions and the Office of DEI. Each session was carefully curated to showcase different facets of the Darden experience, from academic rigor to community involvement to recruiting resources. One of the highlights was the involvement of student organizations, which played a crucial role in shaping the conference’s success. The Graduate Women in Business Club made significant contributions to the Women’s Symposium, while various career clubs and affinity groups actively participated in the Diversity Conference. Their presence underscored Darden’s commitment to supporting diverse career paths and fostering an inclusive environment.

Prospective students, both in person and virtual, found themselves engaged in comprehensive discussions as they explored potential career paths and sought guidance on how to navigate leadership opportunities within the school. Conversations also touched on practical matters such as housing options and long-term career planning strategies. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as current students shared their experiences and advice, demystifying the journey ahead. Networking was a cornerstone of the conference, with receptions, lunches, and dedicated sessions designed to facilitate meaningful connections. Many attendees expressed how these informal settings allowed them to forge valuable relationships. The sense of community was palpable, as prospective students found themselves surrounded by individuals who shared similar goals and aspirations.

As the event came to a close, it was clear that this year’s Women’s Symposium & Diversity Conference had left a lasting impression on all who attended. The exceptional engagement from both current and prospective students created an atmosphere ripe for exploration and connection. Attendees walked away with not only a clearer understanding of what life at Darden entails but also a sense of belonging to a community that values diversity and inclusion.
