Starting a Fantastic Second Year

I recently wrapped up an amazing summer internship at Paramount Pictures, in Interactive Marketing and Analytics. With two weeks left in between the end of my internship and the start of school, I also just went on a trip to Barcelona, the French Riviera, and Paris with a fellow Marshallite. I had worked right up to the start of school last year, as a management consultant at Accenture in New York. Looking back, I’d recommend taking a little time off before school to relax, but there are definitely opportunities to travel during business school, and classmates who are just as interested in going. I went to Japan in May for our PRIME (Pacific Rim International Management Education) trip, the ABAC (APEC Business Advisory Council) team will be presenting their research findings in Bali (jealous), and there’s a unique opportunity to go to Cuba this winter on a business research trip.

I’m extremely excited for this last school year, and everything a second-year student gets to take advantage of. As president of the Business of Entertainment Association (BEA) and an MBA Ambassador, I look forward to sharing my passion for Media & Entertainment with the incoming Class of 2015. I hope they’ll love BEA’s Hollywood and NYC treks, industry nights, guest speakers, and Evolution of Entertainment (E2) conference as much as I did. I’ve already met some of the first years through a summer BEA happy hour, DineLA Restaurant Week dinner through the Eatz club, women’s Pacific Palisades hike with GWIB (Graduate Women in Business), and Admit Weekend.

Continuing as a fall MBA intern at Paramount, I’ll also get to experience the launches of The Wolf of Wall Street, Anchorman 2 and Nebraska, and help on other innovative marketing campaigns. Choosing all my electives, I’ll be taking two graduate-level classes at the School of Cinematic Arts (Entertainment Marketing and The Television Industry: Networks, Cable and the Internet, taught by Eric Schrier – President of Original Programming for FX Networks) and two classes at Marshall (Leadership & Executive Development and Internet Marketing). I’m also happy to see everyone back at Popovich Hall, all together again. It’s going to be a great year and I won’t want it to end!
