Ready to Move Forward? Turn Your Hopes into Action

Now that communities are reopening, it’s easier to feel hopeful and optimistic about life after the coronavirus. But hope and optimism aren’t enough. We have to strategize around this new reality and start taking action. Three of the businesswomen featured in Forté’s Mavens in the Marketplace have set a great example by pivoting their companies to provide COVID-19 relief.

Have you thought about how the changes will affect your career? For guidance, check out the final installment of FranklinCovey’s “The 7 Habits Coach: How to Deal with Change and Uncertainty” web series. The series is based on the principles of Stephen Covey’s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and in this wrap-up, Jennifer Colosimo, senior vice president at FranklinCovey, and Todd Davis, the company’s chief people officer, suggest creating a “flight plan” for yourself.

Davis explains that when an airplane is mid-flight, it often flies a bit off course, but that’s okay, because the pilot is always making small “course corrections.” You can do that with your own plans and goals. Focus on the things you can control, and as you move ahead, be ready to make adjustments as needed. The 7 Habits Coach series wraps up by revisiting some classic advice from Stephen Covey himself. Find out why it’s important to “Carry your own weather.”

If you have a little more time, don’t stop there. Explore the archive of Forté’s recent Don’t Quarantine Your Career webinar series, and take your career to the next level.
